During my yoga practice this morning I suddenly thought about some of the conversations I’ve seen on how the coronavirus pandemic could alter the way we live and see our lives after it’s all said and done. I really hope it does.

I was googling around for interesting questions I could ask guests on my podcast when I came across this list of 350 good questions to ask. I loved it. I found myself reading all the questions and then answering them in my head. I realized this would be an interesting way for me to share what I think.
So that’s what I’m doing, and you’re welcome to join me by leaving YOUR answers to some of these questions in the comments.
Here are my answers for questions 17 - 24
17 - What’s something that will always be in fashion, no matter how much time passes?
The thing about fashion these days is that it’s just as fragmented as everything else in our world. It’s much more personal and micro-tribal than ever before. There is no over-arching “fashion” in the same way there might have been 20 or 30 years ago.
For example, people used to say that blue jeans were a great example of something that would never go out of fashion. But that’s not true. Who wears blue jeans anymore? Ok, LOTS of people do. But I don’t. I can’t stand wearing blue jeans. T-shirts are probably the best answer. Who hates t-shirts? Nobody. And nobody will ever hate them.
18 - What actors or actresses play the same character in almost every movie or show they do?
That kid from Arrested Development who was in Super Bad and a long string of movies playing that same awkward but oddly adorable young misfit. I don’t know his name. Always the same exact character every-time. But I suspect that has nothing to do with his actual acting abilities. But it’s smart of people like that to keep playing the same roles because that’s all we want from them. More that. Imagine he came on screen and was all, angry-intense Leonardo DiCaprio We would hate it.
19 - In the past people were buried with the items they would need in the afterlife, what would you want buried with you so you could use it in the afterlife?
The problem with this is having no idea what the afterlife world would be like, even if there was one. If items you chose DID materialize in this afterlife the chances they would be usable is fairly low. Like, say I decide to bring my tea set because I love it so much only to find out the afterlife is a world of water and we are all essentially swimming. I’d be pretty annoyed to have a tea set with me then.
20 - What’s the best / worst practical joke that you’ve played on someone or that was played on you?
I used to call my parents—separately—every April fools day and try to pull one over on them. One year while in college I called my mom on that day, and told her a crazy story about how I was calling her from jail. I had gone to the bar with some friends, drank, way too much, and then made the horrible decision to get behind the wheel of my car and drive home. While driving home I hit an old disabled lady who was crossing the street with her walker. She did get hurt but her dog had died. So I was in jail and was also being kicked out of university.
She was horrified and felt very sad about the whole thing. I felt horrible about the joke and realized it wasn’t very funny. It was one of the first years I didn’t really feel that April fool satisfaction I would usually get. I think it might have been the end of that ritual as well.
21 - Who do you go out of your way to be nice to?
People doing service jobs who have to deal with angry, pushy, shitty people ALL day long. Postal employees, clerks at the phone company, adults working in fast food. These are the kinds of people who really need some nice in their lives, and I like thinking I could be the exception.
22 - Where do you get most of the decorations for your home?
Mmm. These days I don’t have a lot of “decorations.” I have a lot of plants, books, and art from people I know. Acquiring art from friends of mine is something I enjoy. I don’t have as much as I would like since I know a lot of great artists.
23 - What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?
I literally can’t think of anything I haven’t tried. I’d love to eat my way across Mexico someday.
24 - What food is delicious but a pain to eat?
Crab. I love crabs. King crabs are great if you can afford them, but it’s always those tiny crabs I get because they’re cheaper but take hours to pick apart only for a few strands of edible something. The flavor is right tho, so I keep going for it.
